Shernez Walters, of Hendon Gardens, Romford, was today (May 12) charged with the murder of Tyler McDermott and is set to appear at Highbury Magistrates’ Court later on.
A murder investigation was launched the day after police were called to Norman Road, Tottenham, in the early hours of April 13.
At the scene, emergency services found 17-year-old Tyler suffering from a gunshot injury.
The teenager was taken to hospital for treatment where he died on April 14.
A post-mortem examination confirmed he died as a result of a gunshot wound to the head. Police said that his family continue to be supported by specialist officers.
Seven other people have previously been charged with Tyler’s murder. They are:
- Tyrese Barnett, 19, of no fixed address (also charged with the attempted murder of another male and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life)
- Leo Reid, also 19, of Tulse Hill (also charged with possession of an offensive weapon)
- Tyrese Matthews, 20, of Black Prince Road, Lambeth
- Damaris McBeth, 19, of The Glade, Croydon
- Rhys Antwi, 19, of Prentis Road, Streatham
- Alfred Coker, 20, of Bowen Drive, Dulwich
- Kalam Bagge, 18, of Nimrod Road, Streatham
All of these individuals have been remanded in custody and will next appear at the Old Bailey on July 5.
