The blaze at Cabot Close last night (June 12) resulted in the destruction of part of a first floor flat.

At around 9:40 pm, four fire engines and 25 firefighters were called to the scene to tackle the blaze.

Crews managed to rescue a man who was treated on site by the paramedics.

The fire was brought under control by 10:41 pm by crews from Croydon, Peckham, and Norbury fire stations were at the scene.

The cause of the fire remains unknown and is being investigated by both the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police.

A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade: “Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire at a block of flats on Cabot Close in Croydon yesterday evening.

“Part of a first floor flat was destroyed by fire.

“One man was rescued by crews wearing breathing apparatus and was treated on scene by London Ambulance Service.

“The Brigade was called at 9.40pm and the fire was under control by 10.41pm.

“Crews from Croydon, Peckham and Norbury fire stations were at the scene.

“The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police.”
