Four fire engines and 25 firefighters were called to the fire on Westmead Road at 2.55pm yesterday (June 22).

There has been no reports of any injuries.

Crews worked through hot conditions to control the blaze before it spread. 

Firefighters carried out a full sweep of the building using thermal imaging cameras to ensure there were no remaining hotspots.

The fire was under control by 4.43pm. 

Fire crews from Sutton, Croydon and Wallington fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The full statement from London Fire Brigade said: “Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled a fire at a warehouse on Westmead Road in Sutton.

“Part of a single-storey disused warehouse was damaged by fire. 

“There were no reports of any injuries.

“Crews worked hard in hot conditions to control the blaze before it could spread to any adjacent properties.

“Firefighters carried out a full sweep of the building using thermal imaging cameras to ensure there were no remaining hotspots.

“The Brigade was called at 2.55pm and the fire was under control by 4.43pm.

“Fire crews from Sutton, Croydon and Wallington fire stations attended the scene.

“The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
